    Hi Scott,

Luckily, your new iMac comes with the iLife suite, which gives you all the basic tools you’ll need to work with audio and video.

Use iMovie to edit, capture, and export your video. If you need to lay down additional audio tracks to your video, you can use Garageband. Garageband also has great podcasting support, which you will probably want to check out.

I would also recommend getting the Flip4Mac WMV player, which will add some Quicktime components giving you the ability to view .WMV files in your web browser, and the ability to export to WMV from iMovie if you need to.

If you need more video conversion power, I would recommend an app called Visual Hub. It has a wide array of video conversion codecs and supports batch encoding which is nice.

If you don’t need Visual Hub, you’ll still probably want their free version for converting video to your iPod, which is called iSquint.

    Hope this helps!

Ps. I enjoy the show, very good podcasts! If you need additional help with your Mac, feel free to email me at aaron [at] trackops [dot] com. I’ve been using Macs for years, and the cool thing is now, is that you can install Windows on your Mac! Check out Parallels, a killer app!
