Episode 26 – On the road AGAIN!
Thank you for visiting the website. Don't forget to leave comments or visit the forum!
This episode finds Scott travelling across the state of California on a wild goose chase. Some simple research before hitting the road would have saved the client a nice chunk of change. This is another show about doing the job right the first time, so you don’t have to do it again. Deep searches, cross checking your info and explaining to clients how doing it right can actually save them money are all discussed.
There’s also a teaser for a new feature so stay till the end. Thanks for listening.

Hi Scott, love the series. I just started listening to them and they are very helpfull. My question to you is, how do you bill your client for the searches done, either in the office or out in the field? Just wondering if you bill for time and/or database searches. Thanks and keep up the great work.

Generally, I roll the searches into the cost of the whole investigation unless the investigation is specifically focused on searches. For example, running license plates for a surveillance is not an itemized charge. When I do charge for searches, I generally charge an hourly fee that includes the search and the prepared report that results from the search. I always prepare a report and never just hand over search printouts.
